- What made you decide to have an operation at Cellport Clinic Yokohama?

I happened to be watching a TV show which featured the clinic.
I had a breast augmentation procedure that used a lipo-transplantation method, but the result was far from satisfactory. At that time, I had no choice but to accept the result. Then, I heard an unfamiliar word, “ stem-cell”, and I was very interested in the clinic and its system, and wanted to know more about it. That was what caught my interest.
The Medical Director's Comments
This patient had a lipo-transplantation procedure for the breast augmentation at another clinic, but the result didn't seem to be satisfactory. You can have a CAL tissue augmentation procedure, even if you had another kind of procedure before.
- How did you feel before having the procedure, or on the day you had the procedure?

As I had an experience of having a different procedure before, which, honestly speaking was not very good, I hesitated. While I was having various preoperative tests, I asked myself many times “Do I really want to have this operation? ”. The fact that the clinic is located far from my place made me more anxious.
But I felt that if I didn't have this operation now, I would regret it later. So, I thought this might be my last chance and I decided to have the operation.On the day I had the operation, I just thought happy thoughts and I left everything to the doctor … And moved to the operation room, picturing the postoperative figure of myself (I was excited!).
- Tell us about changes made in your body and feelings after having the procedure.

I still feel postoperative pain (2 weeks after the operation), and have loose skin on my thighs. I'm a bit worried about whether and when my skin will go back to what it was before….
Concerning my breasts, they are now bigger than I expected. As fat will be gradually absorbed into the body, I wonder if there might be some changes in my breasts, or if they may shrink. Anyway, now I'm satisfied with the result.

After the operation, you may feel uncomfortable with the area where fat was suctioned for a while. However, as time goes by, the swelling and pain will go away and your thighs will firm up.
- What did you think about the atmosphere of the clinic?

It looked like a hotel rather than a clinic, and its single room had a serene and comfortable atmosphere.
Because the clinic occupied all the floors of the building, I stayed there without feeling any anxiety.
- How were the attitudes of the doctors and staff?

Everyone was very polite and kind to me. They also gave me a very detailed explanation, which I believe eased my anxiety of having the operation.
I discovered that there are so many differences between the procedures as well as the way of explaining how the types of the operations are different, even though they all are referred to as breast augmentation operations. As for the preoperative and anesthesia explanations, to my surprise, this was fully explained this time. I wish I could have had such detailed explanations when I had my previous operation.
Does it mean I had my previous operation without any knowledge….? Thinking back, now I think it was scary.

All the materials on procedures and anesthesia we use to obtain the informed consent from a patient are based on guidelines used by university hospitals. We hope patients fully understand and appreciate the procedures they are going to have before deciding to have the treatment.
- Please give some advice to people who plan to have the same procedures or those who hesitate to have an operation.

I think, if you trust the doctors and staff of the clinic and decide to leave everything to them after listening to the explanations they give, then you can have the operation. We, as patients, know little about technical things. In addition, this clinic cannot be compared to other clinics because the procedure is so advanced. It is also impossible to perfectly predict the postoperative situation.
Ask even a trivial thing until you are fully convinced, and clearly draw a picture of your future figure. And if you think you are happy to leave everything to them, then I believe you should have the operation.
Ask yourself whether you really want to change or not. I think that is also very important.
